Think About The Blood 03-28-09

Think About It

Dr.  James Denny writes, “There is power in the blood of Jesus to cleanse us from all sin, and there is no power anywhere else, but it needs the condition of openness and sincerity. We cannot be cleansed from the sin we do not confess. We cannot be cleansed from the sin we excuse. We cannot be excused from the sin to which we are secretly resolved to cling. There is no such thing as negotiation, transaction or compromise possible in the relations of God and man. We may take the Gospel or leave it, but we cannot bargain about it. We may be cleansed from all sin, or from none, but not from some on condition of retaining others. Renounce with all your heart everything secret and insincere. Let there be nothing hidden in your life, no prevarications, and no reserves. This is the way in which all the wealth of the Gospel becomes ours.”
There’s not much preaching today on the Blood of Jesus. The reasons are obvious; people are offended by the topic of blood. Around my dinner table the discussion sometimes centers on surgery, disease, blood, etc., because both my wife and daughter are nurses. During these times I have to exercise my authority as head of the household and limit the discussion on bodily fluid seepage and diseased parts. However when it comes to my salvation, I welcome talk about the blood of Jesus, and yes even around the dinner table. The reason is found in Ephesians 1:7 which states, “In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shotcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor.” (AMP)  Accept today the deliverance His blood purchased; if you don’t embrace Him, there is no other way of salvation (John 14:6).
