What About Self-Image 10-26-09

Think About Your Self-Image

What we have been told about ourselves sometimes determines who we become in life. Has Satan whispered thoughts of low self esteem to the point you begin to believe him? Have members of your own family been used by the evil one to tear down your self-image? If so you aren’t alone as millions share in the same dilemma. However, even the thought of not being alone doesn’t bring healing to a wounded self image. But did you know one of the many things Jesus came to earth for was to rescue you from the image that has been formed against you? Jesus said, “I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) Do you think you can walk in the abundant life Christ has promised and still consider yourself a lowly worm? That’s like Prince William viewing himself as a homeless street beggar. Prince William can’t see himself as anything other than a prince. Why? Because all his life he has been told he was royalty. What were you told, what have you told your children, what will you tell your grand-children?

Isn’t it time we begin to walk, talk, and act like children of the King instead of street beggars scrambling for crumbs that fall from the Masters table? “How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame?” (Psalm 4:2) Isn’t it time we told our children they could do anything through Christ Jesus instead of verbally cutting them down? Isn’t it time we reclaim the glory as our prized possession? “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see Him as He is.” (1 John 3:1-2)
